Learn More This Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Updated: Dec 1, 2021

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we hope you'll join us in spreading awareness about this important issue that impacts 1 in 8 women. If you're like many of us, you may want to find a way to help the cause. Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed with where to start? Read on!

  • Learn About Self-Screenings. An important part of the journey is understanding why early detection matters. According to NBCF, "when breast cancer is detected early, and is in the localized stage, the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%." Read more on signs and symptoms, and schedule regular exams.

  • Make a Donation. You can now choose exactly where your donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation goes. You can donate to provide mammograms and screenings to women in need, or critical education and information to empower women to lower their risk, or provide healing resources for women on their journey to recovery.

  • Volunteer. If you have the gift of time to give, you can to pack HOPE kits or Health kits for women in need. You can also join support groups that help women in your community. Learn more here.

  • Leave a Supportive Message. A great place to start is to leave an encouraging message on the "Wall of Support."

  • Wear Your Pink Ribbon. "From a simple piece of ribbon affixed with a pin, we are able to show our support for loved ones battling breast cancer and our hope for a brighter future."
